Colorado is my first home state (I was born in Nebraska but was very young when my parents moved to the Denver area). I left in 1985 for New Hampshire and am now back in the Denver area for a while.
My high school reunion is this weekend and the DNC even starts then too. I plan to stay as far from the Downtown area and the DNC circus as I can.
Watching the preparations (mostly thru the news) for the circus have been interesting. The plan to move the homeless into suburban movie theaters, the plans to supply tax free discount priced gas to the DNC, the plans to keep protesters out of sight of the actual delegates, the ACLU suing the city and the DNC, a plan by some anarchists to blackmail millions from the city in exchange for not holding violent disruptions.
It will be interesting to see how the whole thing plays out. Businesses are being hurt – the whole area will be closed down, employees won’t be able to get to work, customers won’t be able to get to the businesses, businesses that should have been able to capitalize on the thousands of delegates and their cash have not been able to do so because of restrictions against non-union businesses, non organic foods, not green enough business policies.
The “Party of inclusion” is working very hard to exclude lots of people and businesses that are “not our kind”.
