Corrupt Judge Resigns in NH - Steal money and get away with it II
Posted on April 21, 2008
Judge Coffey, who conspired with her now disbarred husband to conceal the money he apparently looted from his elderly clients has belatedly done the right thing.
Had she been a “Commoner” her transgressions would have landed her in jail! But as a member of the black robed oligarchy that actually rules the once free state of New Hampshire, the unelected lifetime tenured Monarchs of the court system chose to suspend her without pay for three years.
She will not serve a day in jail for her crimes, she will not even be required to pay back the salary she was paid while under investigation. With the overly generous retirement plan put in place for judges a couple years back, she probably will still continue to be paid - just like she was still sitting.
There is of course one action still pending, the Bill of Address against her in the House of Representatives - but rest assured the lawyers, spouses of lawyers and just plain judge lovers in the House will not be bring that out and sending it on to the Senate, the Governor and Council.
So for all those people out there who want to steal money and not get caught - here is the latest chapter - from the badly misnamed “Democracy for New Hampshire” a quote from the Gov.:
“Judge Coffey’s resignation was the right thing to do for the people of New Hampshire and the judiciary. To ensure the continued faith of the people in our judicial system, its judges must meet the highest standards of ethics and integrity, and follow the law at all times.”
How can they have continued faith in a judicial system that created and shielded Judge Fairbanks, that allowed supreme court justices to write opinions on cases where they had recused themselves for a conflict of interest, that allowed Judge Coffey to shield the proceeds of theft?
It is past time for a system in NH that allows incompetent and corrupt judges to be removed without years of effort by the people and costing millions of taxpayer dollars. Why not just have each judge’s name appear every two years on the ballot with the simple question - shall Judge __________ remain in office? yes or no.
No years of investigation, no hand wringing by the elected representatives - if a judge has done a bad job - they would simply have to go to the ranks of ordinary lawyers.
