Edwards to run against Dole for Senate?

This rumor got to me before CPAC:

* A reliable source dumped a hot rumor in my lap at CPAC, but asked that I wait until Monday to print it. The story? John Edwards is running for the Senate in North Carolina. If it turns out to be true, remember where you heard it first.

The reliable other side of the situation is - he could not win the state for Kerry-Edwards in 04 and his popularity here certainly has not advanced. If he does run and makes it through the primary, Elizabeth Dole will be assured of a landslide in November.
