Fired for doubting Global Warming?

Posted on July 31, 2007

Hiedi Cullen, the Global Warming zealot on the Weather Channel denies she said that TV meteorologists that doubt Global Warming should be fired, well not exactly. She thinks that they need a re-education, obviously the indoctrination didn’t work the first time. Does she think maybe re-education camps are in order? That would seem Stalinist- as Rush Limbaugh claimed.

Did you suggest that meteorologists who doubt global warming should be fired?

I didn’t exactly say that. I was talking about the American Meteorological Society’s seal of approval. I was saying the A.M.S. should test applicants on climate change as part of their certification process.

So, if they did not properly learn the propaganda of the far left properly, revoke their AMS seal and since the TV stations and networks like that seal associated with their weather guy or weather babe, they probably would be fired - so yeah, she kind of said they should be fired.

Now her college thesis was about how climate change brought about the the collapse of the first Mesopotamian empire - over 4000 years before the internal combustion engine and coal fired power plants existed. But, somehow since college she forgot that nature controls the weather which can then change the course of civilization, not the other way around.

Now in the Times interview with her, it certainly seems like she was really entrenched in her work as a researcher with the NCAR people in Boulder, Colorado. That she hated to leave the job - like she had been there quite a while. But it was a scant 10 months since NCAR brought her directly on board as a new young scientist - fresh from academia - that the Weather Channel lured her away.

She can’t always have been a Global Warming zealot, she seems to have absorbed some off the reservation thought and sometimes it slips out.

indifference to the power of nature is civilization’s Achilles’ heel. I think the events around Hurricane Katrina reminded us that Mother Nature is something we haven’t yet conquered.

She actually seems to have some knowledge rattling around but lets her political views over rule it. She seems to know that the climate changes because of natural forces we barely understand, that humans have not the ability to change climate on any large scale but then suggests her colleagues who doubt global warming should lose their jobs.
